Everywhere you look these days – at least on television, the movies, and in advertisements – you’ll see brilliantly white teeth. There’s a lot of pressure on people who are moving up the ladder in their professions to have very white smile, and there’s the same kind of pressure in the social scene. If you’re ready to experience your whitest smile while also safeguarding your teeth, professional teeth whitening from Smiles of Punta Gorda is the answer!
Why Professional Teeth Whitening Is Better
You can buy an over-the-counter teeth whitening product at virtually every drugstore and grocery store these days. There’s an overwhelming number of products available, each claiming to deliver your whitest white and to be the easiest to use. Those products do a fair job of whitening teeth, but they come with some inherent drawbacks.
Drugstore whitening products typically have a much lower concentration of whitening agent. The whitening process can take longer and may not deliver the results that the user wants. That’s due in part to the lower concentration and also due to the fact that the whitening trays may not fit closely. That can lead to inconsistent results, overuse of the whitening product, and irritation of the tissues of the mouth and in some cases harm to tooth enamel.
At Smiles of Punta Gorda, we proudly offer Opalescence whitening programs. This professional take-home whitening system includes trays specifically customized for your smile to ensure even results. After an examination, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and create your trays from those impressions.
Why an examination? Teeth and gums that aren’t in good shape might not appreciate being exposed to whitening agents. Detecting and correcting those problems first will keep your dental health in good shape and allow you to whiten safely.
After Your Appointment
You’ll take home your prepared trays and the Opalescence whitening gel. Unlike most drugstore products, Opalescence come in a variety of strengths. We’ll recommend the exact strength that will produce the results you want as you whiten your teeth comfortably at home. Generally, achieving the shade of white you want can be achieved in as little as a week or two. Of course, everyone’s needs and wants are different, so your whitening program may take longer.
The crucial part of whitening your teeth is to not overdo it. Keeping the gel in contact with your teeth too long – as can happen when you fall asleep with the trays in place – is definitely not good for your mouth. We’ll give you precise instructions on how to safely use your Opalescence teeth whitening program for best results.
You’ll learn how to care for your whitening trays. As needed, we’ll also offer tips for taking care of your teeth. And to ensure that your at-home whitening results last, we’ll be happy to schedule regular dental cleanings and examinations.
