A chipped tooth here, some sensitivity there … As we grow older, “real life” can get in the way of focusing on dental issues. Who has time to go the dentist, even if pain and embarrassment are part of the daily routine?
It’s important to make time. You could be wasting too much money and energy buying pain meds and other products at the drugstore to quickly “fix” dental problems. And for too many patients, a single tooth is causing those problems.
All it takes is one damaged or unattractive tooth to affect the rest of the your smile. At our Punta Gorda, FL dentist office, Dr. Martin provides restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry options that can make you more comfortable and happy with your smile.
Dr. Martin and our team at Smiles of Punta Gorda encourage you to check out the info below, then call us at [phone] with any questions or to schedule an appointment.
We Can Stop & Prevent Daily Dental Pain
Here are a few of the reasons you may be dealing with daily dental pain due to one tooth and how we can help.
Tooth Fillings For Cavities – Cavities are caused by tooth decay. We gently remove the decay then provide a dental filling made of tooth-colored composite material. This will save your tooth and prevent further dental pain.
Root Canals For Toothaches – Damaged pulp in a single tooth could be causing you serious pain. We will use digital X-rays to examine the roots of your tooth to determine if you need a root canal. Any damaged pulp will be removed, then a dental crown will be placed to protect your tooth from further issues.
Dental Crowns To Fix A Broken Tooth – If you have a damaged tooth due to an accident, we can save and protect the tooth with a dental crown. Our crowns are made from a variety of materials and can be customized to perfectly match the rest of your smile.
Tooth Extractions – A tooth that is causing discomfort may not be able to be saved due to extensive decay or other irreparable damage. If so, we will ensure your comfort while removing the tooth, then discuss a perfect replacement tooth for your smile.
We Can Fix Any Tooth To Beautify Your Smile
If a particular tooth makes you hesitate to pose for pictures, Dr. Martin offers cosmetic dentistry options to help, including:
Tooth Contouring – A tooth may be too long, or you may not care for its shape. Dr. Martin can contour the tooth to better match the rest of your smile.
Tooth Bonding – A discolored or cracked/chipped tooth can become beautiful once again with tooth bonding. A piece of long-lasting, tooth-colored material will be “bonded” onto your tooth to conceal the issue. For more stubborn flaws, we may recommend dental veneers.
Replacing A Missing Tooth: Health Benefits & How We Do It
If a tooth is missing or needs to be extracted, it’s important to replace it. An empty space in your smile can lead to too many preventable issues, including:
- The shifting of other teeth, which can further damage your smile
- Deterioration of bone in your jaw
- Difficulty speaking
- Inability to chew properly, which can prevent you from enjoying certain foods and cause digestive issues
Dr. Martin can replace a missing tooth using a dental implant. Dental implants are replacement tooth roots that we place into your jaw. If you’re missing a single tooth, an implant can be placed and a brand-new, natural-looking tooth anchored to the implant. The tooth will not shift or move, and you can eat any foods you like, including healthy harder foods that might be difficult for you to chew now.
How Much Your Comfort Matters To Us
We make sure patients of all ages are always at ease in our office. If a procedure could cause discomfort, we painlessly apply a local anesthesia to numb your mouth. If you or a family member suffer from dental anxiety, we offer oral sedation to ensure maximum relaxation.
We also provide headphones if you prefer to pass the time with some music. For younger patients, we offer treats and prizes to help them enjoy their visit.
