Do you want the brightest smile? If you are considering getting a teeth whitening treatment from Punta Gorda, and want to ensure a brighter smile that lasts for a long time, you may want to avoid the following mistakes.
3 Things You Should Avoid After Teeth Whitening
If you want to keep your smile shining bright white, here are a few guidelines to follow after getting your teeth whitening from Punta Gorda, FL.
- Avoid Drinking Dark-Colored Beverages
After your whitening treatment, avoid dark-colored beverages such as all:
- Red wine
- Coffee
- Tea
- Beer
- Fruit juices
- Sodas
- Grape Drinks
- tomato Juice
- Carrot Juice
- Green Juice
- Gatorade
- Cola
These drinks can stain your teeth, which can make your teeth yellow. If you feel like you can’t miss the usual morning coffee or tea, you can consider drinking through a straw. A straw will keep liquids away from your teeth, and your smile will remain white.
- Avoid Foods That Stain
If you want your bright smile to last for a long time, you can avoid certain foods that stain your teeth. For instance, foods that are acidic, greasy, or dark-colored can damage your enamel and cause staining. Following are a few examples of foods to avoid after whitening your teeth.
- Dark-colored sauces like red sauce, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, pasta sauce, etc.
- Colorful spices curry, paprika, turmeric, etc.
- Red meat or chili
- Citrus and other acidic fruits like lemons, oranges, limes, mangoes, kiwis, plums, pomegranates, etc.
- Highly pigmented berries, I.e., strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc.
- Colorful vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, spinach, beetroot, etc.
- Milk and dark chocolate
- Naturally and artificially colored candy skittles, M&Ms, smarties, hot tamales, red hots, etc.
Pro tip: if it can stain your shirt, it can stain your teeth. You can opt for light-colored food, such as cauliflower, pasta, white fish, cheese, grilled chicken breast, and tofu.
- Stop Smoking & Consuming Tobacco
Consuming tobacco or smoking can have health effects on your body. It is one of the fastest ways to stain your teeth. If you smoke or chew tobacco, you will have to constantly retouch these stains to maintain your smile. Smoking and tobacco can cause brown stains on your teeth or even permanent Discoloration, which will require other cosmetic dental procedures such as veneers.
- Maintain Your Oral Health
Even if you received your pearly whites, you still need to brush to maintain white teeth. After a tooth whitening treatment, your teeth are more likely to get sensitive. Therefore our experts recommend using a soft-bristled brush and non-abrasive toothpaste. You should also visit your dentist regularly for dental check-ups every six months to ensure optimal oral health.
